The first leg of our trip began on November 7, 2011. We decided to celebrate my birthday in Tagaytay, Philippines.
Tagaytay is known as the City of Character. It’s cooler climate is a welcome respite from the heat and the busy, noisy, polluted atmosphere of the city. It is a well-known tourist spot with spectacular views of Taal Volcano Island and Taal Lake. There are a number of well-known eateries which we tried to experience during our short stay.
During this trip, I wanted to accomplish two goals:
- Reconnect with my sweetie. I haven’t seen him in over ten months at this point and I felt we would need to reaccustom ourselves with one another if we were to travel overseas for the next five weeks without killing each other.
- Food trip!
After a hectic day of hailing air conditioned buses amidst the heat and bustling crowds in Baclaran, Manila we found ourselves nestled in an air conditioned bus bound for Tagaytay. Our hotel, Tagaytay Haven Hotel was located in Barangay Mendez a few minutes away from Downtown Tagaytay. It was dark and raining when we arrived. We hopped on a tricycle for a quick ride to the hotel. Throughout the entire ordeal, I was in no mood for pictures.
